VANITY FAIR Dad-Wear Fashion Faceoff: Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney

Despite Barack Obama’s occasional reputation as a hip, pop-culture literate Al Green cover artist, and despite Romney’s similarities to a 65-year-old animatronic hybrid of the comic-strip characters Goofus and Gallant, America’s presidential candidates are not so different. Their most indelible similarity: they’re both dads. And they both dress like dads. Probably your dad, maybe the dad down the road, and definitely that friend of your dad who’s also a dad and sometimes comes over to fix the wireless router. To wit: polo shirts, awful jeans, womanly sneakers, goofy sunglasses, sweaters, adjustable-waist coats of “windbreaker” ilk—these men rock (“rock”) it all. Below, a slide show of the Republican and Democratic presidential nominees reaching across the aisle … of a local Sears to pick up an earth-toned button down.
